Bridges of Sri Lanka
 

Stone Bridge Mahakanadarawa
The well preserved stone bridge, built over the Mahakanadara Wewa in Anuradhapura district is about ten feet wide and is one of the most popular bridges in the country. The bridge is built whit stone pillars with stone boards laid on top of it.

Wooden Bridge Bogoda
The wooden bridge over Gallanda Oya in Badulla district is a wonderful creation with ten pillars on either side with a tiled roof to shade the bridge. 50 feet long, six feet wide and eight feet tall bridge has a safety railing on either side with a tiled roof to shade the bridge. 50 feet long, six feet wide and eight feet tall bridge has a safety railing on either side of it. Folk tales say that the road in the past to Badulla was across Gallanda Oya.

Suspension Bridge Peradeniya
The suspension bridge over the river Mahaweli connecting the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya and Gannoruwa was built in 1935 under the scrutiny of British Engineer Pronhill. This nearly six feet wide suspension bridge is about 416 feet long. With two 31 feet high main pillars supporting the bridge hung by strong cables.

Steel Arch Bridge Ruwanwella
The iron arch bridge built over River Guru in Ruwanwella was built during the British era. The upper part of the bridge is 43.8 meters long and 3.6 meters wide and is the shape of an arch. A new bridge is under construction in place of this bridge.
