  1. Buddhism is a universal doctrine – Buddhism is a universal doctrine in the sense it surpasses all beings such as gods, humans and animals and spheres of life such as heaven, hell and the world of men and animals.
  2. Let us practice Buddhist principles – Practice of the teaching of the Buddha has received a foremost place in Buddhism. Out of the two forms of offering Amisa-puja (offering of material things) and Pratipatti-puja (practice of teaching) the Buddha has given prominence to the latter.
  3. Let us take care of our parents and respect them – The Buddha extolling the virtue of care and respect for parents has preached that the mother and father are comparable to the Brahma (Supreme Being) and that they are the first teachers.
  4. Let us help the sick – Theating the sick is highly praised by the Buddha who himself washed and bathed a bhikku called Putigatta Tissa Thera whose entire body was covered with festering wounds, and thereby setting an example to others.
